History

The Story of Forgotten Heroes

A Journey Through Time – From Tragedy to Remembrance

1914-1918

During the First World War, thousands of Serbian soldiers were captured and taken to prison camps in Germany and Austria-Hungary, including territories that are now part of Poland. Many died due to hunger, disease, and harsh living conditions.

1939-1945

The Second World War brought another tragedy. Yugoslav soldiers and civilians were imprisoned in Nazi camps throughout Poland, including the notorious Lamsdorf (Łambinowice) camp complex.

1945-2026

After the war, many cemeteries were neglected and forgotten. Some memorials were erected by survivors and families, but over time they fell into disrepair.

Today

Our organization works to restore these sacred places. We document each location, raise funds for restoration, and work to increase awareness of this important part of history.
